post-visit update

Yay! I have GvHD. . .

on my skin. . . 100% of my body (as it was calculated)

but no cancer this check. . .

some sort of mass in my chest but the PET dye didn't pick anything up. just scar tissue and calcification and that sort of thtuff.

my GvHD really hurts, and where it doesn't hurt, it just makes my skin flake. It's like I have sunburn combined with full-body dandruff. it's a lot of fun. . . really.

so I'm back on prednisone and prograf. . . which means I'm also back on klonipan to offset the hulk rage that accompanies the steroid. . . and some eye drops.

GvHD is typically treated for three years. . . can affect skin, intestines, eys, mouth, etc. my current bout is all about the skin, mouth, and eyes. bananas and milk have the same effect as jalapenos on the untrained tongue. so here's to hoping that a week or so of the current regimen will have me less. . . red.

But three years of GvHD is STILL better than one day of cancer. In case I haven't done it lately, I'd like to help all those who gave me support. Without it, I'd be dead.
